There are 3 main ways to create items in DAM:
- In bulk, by creating items via CSV;
- One item at a time, by uploading assets to the bucket;
- One item at a time, from any DAM context.
In this article, items 2 and 3 of this list will be presented.
Create items by uploading assets to the bucket:
When you already have the assets to be registered in the DAM, you can proceed with this action through the bucket. To do so, just follow the steps given below:
1st Step - Upload to the Bucket all the Files that will be part of the Item, be they documents, images, videos, etc.
2nd Step - In the Bucket itself, select the Files and click on the + that will appear in the lower right corner of the screen;
3rd Step - It will open a space for the creation of the Item;
4th Step - Write the name and description;
5th Step - Define whether the Item should be registered as 'Published', 'Unpublished' or 'Valid';
6th Step - Select the Segment, Category and Metadata to which this Item should be linked;
7th Step - Click save.
Obs.: If you want to add markers to the Assets, on the left side below each one there is a specific space for the addition.
Create items from any context in DAM
If you want to create items directly within a category, with context information, whether or not you have the assets at hand, it's possible too! Or even when you already have the item information but still don't have the assets, the item can be created through the step-by-step below:
1st Step - In the DAM, locate the "+" for item creation. This functionality is displayed throughout the context of the DAM, in the top menu:
2nd Step - By clicking on Create Item, the item creation form will be displayed where information such as: Name, Description, Structure in which the item will be created (division, segment, category), Publication and Metadata must be filled in.
3rd Step - When saving, the item will be created in the defined structure, however it will only be displayed in the Drafts area as it is an empty item - without assets - yet.
4th Step - To insert assets into items, you can:
- Associate assets via automation, if there is an automation configured;
- Drag assets from your device into the item;
- Or even use the Asset Manager.
5th Step - By associating assets to the item, it will no longer be displayed in drafts and will be ready to be distributed on the platform or via API.
Note: It is possible to create items from any context in the DAM and if the platform knows the context, it will automatically assign values to the registration steps. For example: when creating an item in a specific category, the DAM already knows the division, segment and category; therefore, this data will be filled in the item creation form. Or even, when creating an item through a shortcut, the DAM already knows the filters that were applied in the shortcut and this data will be filled in the item creation form.
